Friday the 13th. Dentist. Skipton. Bestest Girl in the World!
But for me, today means I get to see my best girly friend in Skipton...and also see my uber cool, funky shoe-loving sexy dentist *lol* ...and before anyone asks, he's not the reason I like going to the dentists, but it does make it that tad bit better.
seeing Gem there is next to totally awesome as she now lives, breathes and studies at York St John Uni...and picking a day when she's home is truly random and totally shiny! I haven't seen her since she went pink lady in August, and I miss her. Wow...the last time I saw my best friend, who lives in Skipton, Uni's at York, while I live in a corner of Lancashire was....in a flat just outside Ibrox in Glasgow! How random is that?
I might even get my birdy prezzie today hahah!! :D I really need to ask the wonderful Gem what she would like for kissmas (Gem, if you read this, please remind me to ask)...I smile as I say that I know what to reply if Gemstar asks me...and what makes me smile more is imagining her reaction when I say it...which I think...lol...would involve at least two "ooooooooh!!!! oooooooohhhhs" yup :D
I been awake since 5am on my day off, but I just can't be bothered to 'get up'...got things to do before my 10.41am train though, people to see, things to post, bills to pay...so I'm shifting into gear right now...after I finish my glass of Hardy's Vintage Classic Red Vintage 2008 of South Eastern Australia. The cornerstone of any nutrional breakfast and on offer just now at 3 for £10 in ASDA (retails at just under deep sea diver).
Signing off at 6.54 in the a.m..

Gig dry spell
After a blissful summer of musical pleasure, I once again find myself in a gig dry spell and I'm absolutely gagging for it!
I keep pawing my way through ents24.com, thecockpit.co.uk, blackpoollive.co.uk, men-arena.com, mct-online.co.uk, and hunt through Uncut and Hammer mags, and sometimes Rock Sound when I get it, when I go away I look for shows in the area, and when I remember to do so I check out the Get It Loud In Libraries and browse through Myspace Bands.
So many singers, bands, musicians that I really wanna see...so many that I've seen and want to see again!
I almost had the chance to see Michael Buble next May, but that doesn't look likely. I think I'm still going to Seth Lakeman next month too but haven't heard much since.
My last taste of music was the...interesting...weekend of August Bank Holiday Weekend, when Lauren and I went to Solfest in the middle of nowhere in a field in Cumbria. I hope to see the Telegraphs and the Travelling Band some time again soon.
For now though, I'll just plug in my mp3 player and listen to the random bunch of tunes on there. Starting off with Mark Brown and Sarah Cracknell's 'The Journey Continues' - part of this beautiful tune is highly recognisable due to part of it being used in the Lloyd's TSB adverts. A haunting, yet beautiful tune that just makes me want to hit the repeat button.
Toodles for now xx

Avon's Calling...
Good morning world...
I know I've been rather slack at keeping my blog up to do date, but I'm going to attempt to blog a lot more often!
This is my first week as a representative of Avon - the company for women (which always amuses me as there is a range of men's toiletries and gifts available).
I decided to apply to be a rep for 2 reasons, in recent months I've become a dedicated costumer, and also it looks almost certain that I have lost my part time job. I haven't been able to work for the past two weeks due to injury, and by the time I will be able to return to a job that involves some lifting then I won't have a job to return to.
However, I have high hopes for my life as a rep! It's been more than a decade since I was told I could sell ice to eskimos and may have lost my calling? Or perhaps not!!
As the old expression goes... Avon's Calling! and it called to me! I'm looking forward to building on this and hope that family, friends and colleagues...and family & friends of family, friends and colleagues...and family & friends of...etc :p :P will join me in making this a happy venture for all!
Stay shiny!

Miners Cosmetics... Nail Polish Graphite NP036
The colour is beautiful, very dark with a shimmer of bluey glimmer. The end result isn't as glossy as other nail colours I've used, but I was impressed with its quick-drying silky smooth finish.
I found it easy to apply, with virtual precision...something I'm not normally very good at. And applied two coats. Although, when I managed to drop a large gloop on one nail in particular, I didn't need to add a second coat.
Bear in mind that I was multi-tasking when painting my nails...I was simultaneously pulling pints and prettying my finger nails! I managed to smudge just two nails while I was taking money in and out of the cash register, so was very glad of the product's quick-drying capabiliities.
Four Days Later...
It's been four days since I applied Miners' Graphite nail varnish, and up to yesterday (Sunday), the polish had barely even chipped. it had survived dishwashing, showering, hair washing, hand cream and multiple hand washing, plus 2 nights of pulling pints, a full day on the keyboards and a trip to the footie... so fairly durable! In the end it succumbed slightly to the horrors of 2 hours of suffocating in marigolds...
I give it 8 and a half out of 10...

I still have a lot of work to do with creating links etc, but I'm happy that I now have a place that I can point people to.

Awesome...ta ta for now xx
A new drink?
I'm no stranger to trying out new foods and drinks and whatever kind of conconction, at least once anyway. I'm also very experimental, especially when it comes to alcohol! I did invent a delicious concontion in 2007 but shamefully can't remember it...I'm hoping I may have mentioned it somewhere on an old myspace page, and hopefully I'll get round to hunting for it.
Anyway...back to last night.
It may already have been tried somewhere in this great big world but I just thought I would give it a try... I poured a generous helping of Mickey Finn's Blueberry, and put it an equal measure of fresh orange juice. It turned a wicked shade of green, and tasted quite funky (in a good way).
I enjoyed without ice in a plastic cup, but I think it would be amazing poured over crushed ice in a cocktail glass.
Enjoy!

Scrabble
While I do believe that a decent knowledge of spelling and vocabulary is required, I'm also of the opinion that it's just down to darn luck what you receive on your rack. It's not too uncommon for me to sit staring at 4 i's (no jokes about my specs please)...
For some reason, unbeknowst to me, I almost always get the inventor of Scrabble completely, and embarrassingly, wrong! I've been known to proudly say ooh it was Percy Butts! but it wasn't...it was Alfred Butts, I seem to get him confused with the inventor of the cat's eye, Percy Shaw. My only guess is that I learnt about them both around the same time in my young years.
In my mid-teens, Friday night was Scrabble night with my dad. My dad kept scores and I very rarely ever won, with dad proudly saying such things as 'I'm sorry my love, better luck next time'. I never let it dampen my spirits though, as I just loved to play so much. However, months had passed, and I happened to come across his notebook in which he kept our scores. It only turned out that I had won virtually every game! Cheeky blighter. We never played so much from then on, and I made sure I always kept scores!
Within the last year I have found Scrabble on Facebook, and yet again, my hunger for Scrabble has returned. I do not win every game, I have some very cool and intelligent opponents! *looks at Lesley* who whoop my butt most of the time. But I always go back for more, just as the teen in me did so many years ago. The only difference this time is that when I lose, I really do lose.
So if anyone ever sees me on facebook, please challenge me to a game...I love it!

It's a wonderful life
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Sometimes you have to sit and wonder about the good things in your life. The things you've done. The things you've experienced. The things that may have brought a smile to your face, or a giggle, or just amused you for reasons that others wouldn't know. The places you've been. The things you've said. The friends you've made.
They all add up to your life being something. Meaning something...if not to you, then to the people around you.
I've thought long...very long...and hard about this blog. Because, I needed something to make me realise that just being here hasn't been a waste of time. That maybe I've made a difference somehow...to someone, somewhere.
I really hope you read all of these. These are the things that have made me smile, made me happy, made me thoughtful, made me bounce, grin, sing, dance and everything that everyone says they like about me...

Cherry *pops*
Unfortunately, my debut post is not about Cherry pops, as I rarely eat sweet things, I just needed a snappy title to break in my virgin blog.
After being a lurker for a short time to my friend Lauren's blog, I thought it was time to put finger tips to the keyboard, and see if I'm cut out for this blogging lark. While I don't wish to sound like a defeatist, I'm fairly certain that this could be a task that I will inevitably fail, as much as my mind is a torrent of thoughts pretty much most of the time, I'm almost convinced that I am...boring!
Boring or not, I'm here, at least in spirit, for the duration (or for however long the rollercoaster ride lasts for...I'm hoping a while yet) !
Now, thinking of spirits...I'm working in the bar tonight!
